Open fires
Only ‘Approved fuels’ like ‘smokeless coal’ or anthracite are allowed on an open fire in a smokeless zone.
It’s actually an offence to burn logs or ‘house coal’ on an open fire in these areas and you may be fined. You may feel that burning a ‘few logs’ or a ‘little bit of coal’ on an open fire in a smokeless zone wont make any difference, but it does. It will pollute your local neighbourhood. You are allowed to start your fire with small wood kindling, etc.
